The Mercer County Historical Society is powered by volunteers. Help in the archives, greet researchers, lead a downtown history walk, or pitch in at West Virginia Day—send a short application and a coordinator will discuss current needs with you.

Use Volunteer Access to keep your contact preferences current. It is separate from Staff Admin, does not confirm screening or orientation, and does not assign a shift.

Fundraising schedules may use short codes: SU means setup, SA means sales, and PU means pack up. A means AM and P means PM.
Autumnfest is September 26, 2026. Staff will confirm exact shift times, location, assignments, and check-in instructions before a volunteer is scheduled.

New volunteers complete a short application so staff can discuss interests, availability, role requirements, orientation, and any screening appropriate to the assignment.
